Drive for Us: The BlocPilot Program

As a BlocPilot, you’ll need to remain attentive and ready to take control of the vehicle if needed. While Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software handles the majority of driving tasks—steering, accelerating, braking, and navigating traffic—it’s not yet fully autonomous.

Your role will be to monitor the system’s performance, ensuring that it responds appropriately to the environment, traffic signals, and unexpected events.

In Level 3 autonomy, the vehicle will prompt you when it needs human intervention. BlocPilots need to be alert and responsive, taking over control of the vehicle whenever the FSD system encounters challenging scenarios, such as inclement weather, road construction, or other anomalies.

In Level 4, while the vehicle can often navigate autonomously, oversight in specific conditions is still required. For example, you may be required to navigate through unmapped areas or areas with insufficient infrastructure for autonomous driving.

BlocPilots will be responsible for configuring the FSD system before every ride. This includes setting the correct route, destination, and checking that all safety protocols are in place before the vehicle embarks on its journey.

You’ll also ensure that the car’s inductive charging system has fully charged the vehicle, and that all systems (cameras, sensors, navigation) are working properly before the ride begins.

Even though Tesla’s FSD software is highly advanced, there may still be situations where the vehicle does not respond as intended. As a BlocPilot, you will need to be able to assess the situation quickly and manually intervene when necessary to maintain safety.

This includes responding to road hazards, traffic congestion, and malfunctions with the vehicle's sensors or systems. A calm, decisive approach will be key in ensuring rider safety and maintaining the highest operational standards.

BlocPilots must uphold BlocRent’s mission of providing a high-quality, safe ride. You will not only oversee the technical aspect of the journey but also ensure that the rider feels comfortable and secure.

You must follow all BlocRent safety protocols, which include no solicitation of tips, respecting rider privacy, and communicating effectively if issues arise. Riders must feel at ease knowing that while their ride is autonomous, a dedicated BlocPilot is there to ensure everything goes smoothly.

BlocPilots are prohibited from soliciting tips, in line with BlocRent’s no-tipping policy. Our goal is to make rideshare affordable for all, and as a BlocPilot, you must strictly adhere to this policy.

Instead, you’ll be fairly compensated through BlocRent, ensuring a stable income without the reliance on tips from riders.

 Knowledge of Tesla’s FSD: You must have a solid understanding of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system, including how to activate, monitor, and intervene when necessary. Training will be provided, but an existing passion for autonomous vehicles and electric vehicle technology is a plus.

Accountability and Attention to Detail: Safety is our top priority. You must be accountable for monitoring the vehicle and taking immediate action when necessary.

Pass Background Check: All BlocPilots must undergo and pass a thorough background screening to ensure we maintain the highest standards of safety for our riders.

Follow BlocRent Policies: You must strictly adhere to all company policies, including our no-tipping policy, respecting rider privacy, and avoiding asking for any personal information from riders.
